A WORLDWIDE television audience of 300 million are expected to view the European Seniors Tour at Ballyliffin Golf Links in June.
Preparations for the event are well under way with the local club recently taking delivery of a state-of-the-art irrigation system.
Ballyliffin Golf Club manager John Farren said the new system will provide a great boost to the greenkeepers. "It will greatly enhance the presentation standards at Ballyliffin and will be an important maintenance tool for head greenkeeper Andy Roberson and his team," said Mr. Farren.

place from June 20 to June 22 and is the most prestigious event ever to be staged in the North West.
High profile players such as Sam Torrance, Sandy Lyle, Constantino Rocca and Bob Charles have already confirmed their attendance while it's understood that Ian Woosnam, Des Smyth and Eamonn Darcy will confirm their participation shortly.
Sam Torrance enjoys a laugh with Constantino Rocca. Ballyliffin will be issuing complimentary season tickets to its members and has secured a significant allocation for distribution among local golf clubs.
"The members of Ballyliffin have once again stepped up to the plate with considerable numbers already registered as volunteers for the event. The club is also canvassing all its suppliers and supporters to help with the
considerable costs involved in bringing a tour event to Ballyliffin," added Mr. Farren.
The event will enjoy extensive television coverage on RTE, Sky Sports and the Golf Channel in the US and China with a worldwide audience of around 300m viewers.
It is hoped this will pay dividends for many years to come by increasing visitor numbers to the region.
The European Seniors Tour will be preceded by two pro-am events with sponsor opportunities still available for people to play golf with legends such as Lyle, Woosnam and Torrance. More details available from the club on 00353 749376119 or visit www.ballyliffingolfclub.com .
