Text A Taxi takes on the world
A TAXI texting service is
taking the world by storm from its hub in Carndonagh,
County Donegal.
First conceived as a service to help hearing and speech
impaired people book a cab, Text A Taxi allows people to
book a taxi quickly and easily and gives them
up-to-the-minute details about when their taxi will
arrive and what type of car it will be – crucial in
today’s safety-conscious world. |
Text A Taxi is part of the
Text One Group and the man behind the global service is
39-year old Lawrence Kendall.
With a solid background in software development and
telecommunications, Kendall has so far invested more
than €500,000 in the Text One Group and has just
completed the recruitment drive for his Irish
operations. |

Text A Taxi operates
throughout Britain and Ireland while the Text A Taxi
franchise is also being rolled out in the US and
Caribbean with Australia and New Zealand also target
markets for this year.
As Kendall explains, Text A Taxi is also making its mark
in the corporate world.
“There’s an old saying that goes ‘if you can’t measure
it, you can’t manage it’,” he says. |
“Many companies and public
sector organisations such as councils spend huge amounts
of money every year on taxis. It can be difficult to
reconcile monthly statements from taxi companies against
actual taxi usage.
“Text A Taxi allows these companies to examine the
accuracy of monthly taxi bills by telling them who took
a cab, to where and at what time,” Kendall adds.
