The allocation was welcomed yesterday by
Donegal North East Deputy Niall Blaney, who said ICT education was "crucial" in the development of students’ skills. “This funding will go towards the purchase of ICT equipment such as digital cameras, laptops, tablet PCs, data projectors, interactive whiteboards, educational software and other computer equipment," he said.
“This is a very worthwhile way of distributing funds from the Dormant Account Fund. “IT skills are required in almost every walk of life now, and they are vital for students hoping to pursue third level studies.”
Deputy Blaney said each school had the freedom to choose what equipment best serves their needs.
“The Government is committed to investing in the education of our young with this round of funding comes to a significant €3.3 million nationally.”
