Buncrana to host US Democrat 02.10.07

Buncrana will later this month host second generation son Brian Kavanagh, a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly.
Kavanagh, will visit his father John's hometown during an Irish visit that will also take in an official visit to Dublin. Full details of the visit are still being finalised.
Brian Kavanagh, a Democratic member of the New York State Assembly. Kavanagh represents the 74th Assembly District, which is located on the East Side of Manhattan and includes parts of the Lower East Side, Union Square and Gramercy Park.
He was first elected to the State Assembly in 2006. A lawyer by profession, he has worked for more than 20 years in the public and community sector.
His father, John, of Upper Main Street, Buncrana, is a retired New York City police officer. He is a regular visitor to his hometown since his retirement. He usually makes the trip home to Inishowen with lifelong pal, Ronnie Palmer, another Buncrana expat living in the Big Apple.
