Call for more bins at Buncrana

BUNCRANA'S Tidy Town
committee has called for more bins at the seaside to
cater for the large influx of tourists in the summer
and on bank holidays.
The group said the bins at the Shore Front could not
cater for the extra rubbish over the May Bank
Holiday.
"The bins were overflowing last weekend and litter
was scattered all along the Shore Front. More bins
have to be allocated to the Shore Front to cater for
the large influx of tourists especially on bank
holiday weekends," said a spokesperson. |
A large group of
committee members and volunteers met on Saturday,
May 3, for "a full scale assault on litter". They
assembled at the local Leisure Centre and proceeded
to the Castle Bridge and the Pier.

the year and are
essential to the overall tidiness of the town.
Buncrana Town Council are also to be congratulated
for their efforts," added the spokesperson.
Meanwhile, the residents of Porthaw had a recent
clean-up and thanked everyone who helped while the
Mill Anglers also undertook a litter blitz from the
old bridge to the new bridge. As the Mill clean-up
is done on a regular basis, more volunteers are

The hardworking Tidy Towns committee also commended
Lidl for recently landscaping their premises and
they thanked the Four Lanterns takeaway for kindly
sponsoring refreshments for all youths who take part
in the local clean-ups.
The next committee meeting takes place on Monday,
May 13 at 7.30pm in the Buncrana Community Centre.
