Foyleside Regatta season gets underway 25.07.08

MOVILLE, Greencastle and Shroove will become Festival-land when the annual regatta season gets underway with events for all the family running from this weekend until August 4.
This weekend it's the popular Shroove Regatta where the sailors become the envy of landlubbers everywhere. The main event kicks off at 3pm on Saturday in Shroove with the regatta, punts and drontheim races.
The following day, around 2pm, locals and visitors can enjoy the Tuns Buoy Cup Cruiser Race in Shroove.
Watch out for other events running throughout the area next week including festival quizzes and treasure hunts.
Next weekend it's the turn of Moville Regatta with the regatta proper enhanced by an action-packed festival programme that will include historic strolls, vintage 
Kevin Lynch and Peter Fallon sail the dinghy Whizzy during the Moville Regatta in 2007.
tractor building display, a bouncy castle, fairground and the ever-popular bonny baby competitions.
August 3 will be a big sailing day with scheduled drontheim, yawl and cruiser races aplenty from Moville Pier. At 4pm the always fun Moville Raft Race will take place followed later in the evening with trophy presentation in the Corner Bar
There is also live outdoor gigs planned for the weekend coupled with music in many of the local pubs. And don't forget the two-day Serenity House arts and crafts exhibition on August 3 and August 4.
Meanwhile, Greencastle Regatta will run from August 8 to August 10 while Greencastle Swim Week will take place on August 11 at Big White Bay. Regatta times and events are weather-permitting and subject to change. For the full sailing programme, visit www.movilleboatclub.com.
