Successful Youth Information Day 03.11.08

NEARLY 100 young people attended the first ever Youth Information Day in the Plaza last Thursday.
The aim of the event was to promote the leisure opportunities available to young people in Buncrana, while providing them with a professional forum on issues such as education, mental health and drug/alcohol misuse.
Cllr Daren Lalor who organised the Youth Information Day pictured with some of the young attendees. Cllr Daren Lalor said the idea came about for the event following discussions with a number of students and local parents on how best to promote the leisure activities, clubs and groups available in the Buncrana area.
He said he was delighted with the turn-out for the inaugural event, scheduled to coincide with the
Halloween mid-term break to maximise visitor numbers.
"On behalf of the Youth Information Day committee, I would like to thank all those groups who attended the successful information day," said Cllr Lalor.
"Equally we would thank all those parents who also took the time out to attend and most importantly the 92 young people who took the time out to visit," he said.
The Sinn Féin councillor also congratulated Toby Yeoman, Michael Gomersall and Sharon Grant who were the lucky young winners of a free door draw prize sponsored by Tailored Mobiles.
