Brisk sales for 'Oliver, the Musical' 20.10.08

TICKETS for 'Oliver, the Musical' in Buncrana went on sale last week and are selling briskly, according to the organisers. Box office co-ordinator Elaine Grant said interest in the show had been "phenomenal". "There is a huge demand for the tickets since the box office opened on Saturday and based on first day sales alone, we would expect the show to sell out very quickly," she said. The show opens on Thursday, October 30 for a one-week run. It is the first musical to be performed at St Mary’s Hall in 45 years.
Gerard O'Neill as Fagin and Phil Ruddock as Bill Sykes square up to each other in 'Oliver, the Musical' to be staged soon in Buncrana. Emma Porter, who stars as Nancy, says the long wait is leading to much anticipation in the seaside town: “There is a great buzz about Oliver! and people are getting really excited as the time draws nearer. It’s a great community effort for Buncrana and there has been a lot of hard work to make sure that audiences will experience a great night’s
entertainment."
Audiences will be transported to Victorian London from the moment they step inside St Mary’s Hall for the show. The organisers' aim is to enhance the overall experience, bringing people back to the late 19th century to make them feel they are a part of the story. Anyone hoping to get a seat for the show is advised to book soon.
The show runs until Saturday, November 8 but there are no performances on Friday or Sunday due to the local bingo. Matinees will take place on Saturday, November 1st, Sunday, November 2 and Saturday, November 8 at 2.30pm. To book call to the box office in person or phone 086 2072496 or 086 2072497.
