Cast named for 'Oliver' the musical  04.06.08

THE producers of 'Oliver' to be staged in Buncrana have just revealed the principal cast for the musical to be staged later this year.
Oliver will be played by Emer McLaughlin and Jessica McShane while the Artful Dodger will be played by Niamh McGonagle and Jack Shallow. Charlie Bates will be brought to life by Fionan Bradley and Luke Timlin while Fagin will be played by Gerrard O'Neill.
And while it took them weeks and much heartache to find Nancy on the BBC's 'I'd Do Anything', the local producers, Greasepaint, were lucky enough to find their perfect Nancy in the guise of Maureen Loughrey and Emma Porter.
Meanwhile, the rest of the principal cast are as follows: Bet – Aileen Henderson/Cheryl Rainey; Bill Sykes – Phil Ruddock;
Ireland's Jessie Buckley who was narrowly pipped in the BBC's 'I'd Do Anything' to become Nancy in a West End musical.
Mr Bumble – Brendan Fletcher; Widow Corney – Clare O'Donnell; Mr Sowerberry – Karl McCarron; Mrs Sowerberry – Sue Doherty; Mr Brownlow – John Collins; Charlotte – Shauna McKinley; Noah – Emile Rainey; Mrs Bedwin - Maria Doherty; Dr. Grimwig – Donal Kearney and Sally – Lisa Gallagher.
Ensemble pieces will include Karl McCarron, Liz O'Donnell, Michael Fisher, Danielle Bradley, Philip Doherty, Roxanna Farren, Andrew McCracken and Sheila McCarthy.
A spokeperson for the producers said: "Please note, we still need new faces for the adult chorus and more details will follow to advise of rehearsal schedules.
"The children's chorus has not yet been finalised given that we have to cut it down dramatically. It's not a nice job, but we had 86 children audition and unfortunately we only have places for 40."
