THE ORGANISERS of a
major cross-border Jobs Fair in Buncrana next week
are laying on free buses to take people to the
event.
More than 20 large employers from Donegal and Derry
will be exhibiting at the event on Wednesday, March
5, from 10.30am to 6.30pm in the Inishowen Gateway
Hotel.
Their recruitment staff will take applications on
the day and discuss the positions on offer in more
detail with jobseekers.
The event is part of the EURES (European Employment
Service) cross-border partnership that has been
established to make things easier for people who
want to commute on a daily or weekly basis across
the border to earn a living. It also aims to assist
employers by providing them with access to a larger
pool of labour i.e. jobseekers living on the other
side of the border.
The Jobs Fair co-hosts are the Department of Social
and Family Affairs; Department for Employment &
Learning in Northern Ireland; the Inishowen
Development Partnership (IDP) and the IDP's Job
Club.
"The Jobs Fair is aimed at all people looking for
work whether they are currently unemployed, working
in the home or employed but seeking new and more
challenging careers," said an IDP spokesperson.
"Support agencies will also be available on the day
to advice employers and jobseekers on the various
incentives and programmes that both governments have
for people taking up employment. Everyone is more
than welcome to attend the Jobs Fair and we
anticipate a large turnout."
Anyone who doesn't have transport, can avail of the
free transport being laid on by the Job Club. If you
