Investigations still
continue into fire
THE DIRECTOR of Inish Oh bottled water at Burt has
said she remains hopeful that the company can get up
and running again in the weeks ahead. The plant was
gutted by a fire at the end of September.
Magreth McGill said that investigations into the
fire at the plant were still ongoing and admitted
that the paperwork involved since the fire had meant
things had been ‘painfully slow'.
However she suggested that the company intends to be
up and running as soon as they can, following the
devastating fire.
“We have been told by Gardai that the investigation
is ongoing so as far as that is concerned that’s as
much as we know, but in the meantime there are also
lot of reports and investigations ongoing in
relation to insurance and the safety of the plant.”
At the time of the fire it was thought that the
blaze had been started deliberately but it was
unsure how extensive the damage was.
However it later emerged that the damage to the
plant was very extensive and as a result all five
people who worked at the plant have been out of
work.
“We were hoping that we would be allowed in this
week to start to see what exactly we can salvage,
but the damage to the building has been fairly
extensive so we’re waiting still for the engineers
to give us the green light before we can get back
into the building.”
Once that green light is given the company plans to
assess what they need to get up and running, but the
director said yesterday they firmly intended to be
back in business as quickly as they can.
“As soon as we can get this bureaucracy and red tape
out of the ay we hope to be back in business again,”
