Mayor offers support to Foyle
Hospice

THE Foyle Hospice is
one of two organisations chosen by the Mayor of
Derry as his official charities during his year in
office.
The Foyle Hospice provides ongoing palliative care
for patients in the North West region including
Inishowen. It helps patients with cancer and other
life limiting illnesses while supporting their
families and loved ones. |

The hospice, set in
beautiful landscaped gardens on the Culmore Road,
Derry, comprises 12 beds and four self contained
apartments. It currently costs £1.8m a year to run.
Derry Mayor Cllr Gerard Diver named the NSPCC as his
second charity.
"These charities both provide services to families
from early |
years to later years
and particularly when they are most vulnerable.
"Both are local charities and all fundraising that
we do will go towards local services and will
benefit local people," said Cllr Diver. Fundraising
manager with the Foyle Hospice, Ciaran McGinley,
said: "We would like to extend our sincere thanks to
our Mayor for choosing Foyle Hospice as one of his
nominated charities and very much look forward to
being involved with NSPCC.
"All proceeds from the forthcoming activities will
allow our dedicated staff to continue to provide
ongoing palliative care services for patients with
cancer and other life limiting illnesses and support
for their families and loved ones."
