Inishowen’s first New
Year baby

JAMIE Ryan Doyle became
Inishowen’s first-born baby of the New Year when he
came into the world in the early hours of New Year’s
Day at Letterkenny General Hospital. |
Weighing in at 6lb 4oz
(3kg) Jamie arrived a couple of weeks earlier than
expected. “I wasn’t expecting a New Year’s Day baby,
he wasn’t due until later in January,” mum Caroline
Doherty explained. “But he surprised us all and was
born at 4.36am on New Year’s Day.”
A relaxed Caroline said she rang in the New Year at
home in Buncrana before going to Letterkenny along
with partner |

Jason Doyle. Jamie was born early on
Tuesday and mother and son went home the following
day.
“It was nice to get home because you can’t rest
properly in the hospital,” Caroline said.
Jamie’s 18 month old brother Aaron has been on hand
to welcome the new addition to the household. “He
hasn’t said much, but he’s been taking an interest
and pointing at his little brother,” added Caroline.
