Moville Fire Station officially
opened 16.12.08
THE €700,000 Moville
Fire Station was officially opened yesterday along
with the launch of the town's new fire engine.
The long-awaited event was an emotional one for
local politician Senator Cecilia Keaveney who
described herself as the station's "chief advocate".
“My father, while he was ill in mid July 1995, had a
list of things he asked that I try to pursue for the
people of the extended east Foyle area," she
explained.
"Near the top of the list were the issues of the
Carrickarory Pier restoration and the need for the
Fire Service to be given a decent home to operate
from." |

The Moville-based
senator said local fire personnel, including many
who have since retired deserved to see the "vast
improvement" not only to the base station but the
new fire engine itself.
"The issue of the fire station was one of the first
projects I raised when I went on the Council and was
able to put official questions to those responsible.
"Indeed it is a matter of record that I also had a

have one-way systems
initiated in the town to assist traffic flow."
Senator Keaveney again called for the Council to
implement the one-way system saying it would help
the emergency services to get through the town at
the required speed. The station was officially
opened by Donegal Mayor, Cllr Gerry Crawford who was
joined by a number of local politicians and Council
executives. |
