Top show for Inishowen businesses 25.08.08

BUSINESSES from across Inishowen are being invited to travel to the world’s top contemporary design event this September. The Donegal Design Directorate Skillnet has organised a trip for the county's design talent called '100% Design' to coincide with London Design Week and London Fashion Week. The directorate is inviting up to ten businesses to take part in a subsidised ‘best practice’ delegation to the show.
Donna McFadden '''100% Design' is the highlight of the design calendar for anyone with an interest in design in Europe," said Donna McFadden, the new programme manager for the Donegal Design Directorate Skillnet. “There is no other show that has the same mix of architects, product designers and manufacturers and highly innovative newcomers."
The London Show takes place from September 19 to September 21
and has three strands – 100% Design, 100% Futures and 100% Materials. The event attracts star designers as well as some of the world’s key manufacturers and producers of the latest textiles and materials. One of the most inspiring parts of the event is the '100% Futures' which focuses on the best emerging creative talent from around the world.
The Donegal Design Directorate Skillnet is an initiative of Donegal County Enterprise Board to promote the value of good design to small companies. In just over 18 months, the directorate has signed up over 80 local companies as members, delivered training in areas such as product design and branding and has organised best-practice visits to Paris, Milan and London. It has also secured significant funding from Skillnets, the national skills and competitiveness coordination body, to finance the initiative through to 2009.
The Donegal Design Directorate will host the official launch of the second phase of the programme on Tuesday, September 16 in the Radisson Hotel, Letterkenny. Guest speaker will be PR guru Terry Prone of the Communications Clinic. Anyone interested in the trip or official launch can contact Donna McFadden on 074 9160735 or email donnamcfadden@donegalenterprise.ie
