Beekeepers host top chef in Moville  01.10.08

THE Foyle Beekeepers' Association are holding a unique culinary event in Moville this Friday to raise funds for local cancer patients and their families.
The association are hosting Michael Young who is executive chef at Malone Golf Club in Belfast and a teacher of culinary arts at Belfast Institute. Mr Young will be cooking a delicious salmon starter and a venison main using honey as part of the ingredients. During the second part of the evening, he will demonstrate how to make an encaustic beeswax painting. This involves the skilful use of different coloured beeswax being worked into a painting using the heat of an iron. The picture will be one of the prizes raffled on the night. The evening will also include a fun session of storytelling from Greencastle's own Paddy McCartney, who is also a beekeeper. Tea and light refreshments will be served. Admission is €10 and all proceeds will go to the Moville Cancer Support Group based at Serenity House. The venue is the Foyle Hotel, Moville, on Friday, October 3, starting at 8.30pm. Everyone welcome.
