INISHOWEN councillor,
Pádraig MacLochlainn has welcomed a new network of
tourism signposts at Clonmany, Urris and Desertegney.
He said the signs would help tourists locate
attractions such as Mamore Gap, Glen waterfall,
Leenan Pier and Dunree Fort.
Cllr MacLochlainn said the new signage would also
help pinpoint the Inishowen 100 and local town
lands.
“The erection of these signs is a very important
contribution to the tourism product of Clonmany,
Urris and Desertegney. The tourism product in this
area allied with the remarkable tourism base of
Ballyliffin and Doagh Famine Village, only short
journeys away, are crucial to Inishowen," he said. |
The Buncrana-based
councillor has been working in partnership with
local community activists and senior council roads
engineers to improve signage in the area.
“Local community activists had rightly complained
that signposting in the area was totally inadequate
for tourists visiting the area.
"I then took senior engineer, Stephen Flynn, around
the area to see the problem for himself. |

I have to say that I am
delighted with the professional approach of Stephen
and his fellow engineer, Trevor Gordon, to
addressing this problem and the new network will
really be of immense assistance," he added. |
