Memorial concert for 'Wee Patrick' 15.11.09

GLENEELY'S Patrick McLaughlin, affectionately known as ‘Wee Patrick’, lost his fight for life at Beaumont Hospital on November 19, 2008. There was great sadness felt all over Inishowen that this lovely, sincere, quiet and very talented singer would no longer entertain us and that his absence would leave a great void in our lives.
Patrick was the loving husband of Mary and father to Frances, Charles and Patricia, grandfather, and brother to Anne, and especially a dear friend to us all who knew him.
Because of his love for music and the many people whose lives were touched by his wonderful singing, a few people have got together to organise a musical tribute to celebrate Patrick’s life.
That special memorial concert will take place in the Malin Hotel on Thursday, November 26 at 8.30pm. The audience can look forward to artists including The Country Boys, Hugh McMonagle, Shunie Crampsey, Patsy Cavanagh, Hugh P, Danny McCarron, Cavanagh Bros, Dominic McDaid, Billy Martin, Robbie Cunningham and the Ramblers Showband. St Mary's Choir in Bocan, where Patrick was a life long member, will bring this memorable night to a close.
Admission is just €5 and, as requested by his family, all proceeds will jointly go to the Ard Aoibheann Alzheimer’s Unit, Carndonagh, and the East Inishowen Special Needs group.
The late Patrick McLaughlin
Please come along for what will certainly be a night to remember. Patrick will never be forgotten by his family and friends, but neither will he be forgotten in Inishowen as his wonderful gift of singing entertained and enthralled people everywhere. May he rest in peace. (Inishowen Independent)
