Keaveney lobbies Manseragh 16.11.09

SENATOR Cecilia Keaveney is lobbying the OPW for funding to progress a number of promised projects in Inishowen next year. She made her call when she met OPW Minister Martin Manseragh at the Ógra Fianna Fáil conference in Bundoran at the weekend and congratulated him on the success of Buncrana's newly decentralised Government buildings.
"I was able to compliment Minister Manseragh on the wonderful success of the project in Buncrana but also to drive further projects such as the Garda Station for Carndonagh," said Senator Keaveney.
"He has agreed that we should meet after the publication of the OPW estimates so that he will be in a better position to determine what funding will be available for projects in 2010. I intend to continue to pursue this issue as vigorously as I did the massive €27 million project just completed in Buncrana," she said.

"I remember being there with Minister Batt O Keeffe when it was merely a site that we wanted the OPW to purchase and I had the Taoiseach here in 2007 to turn the first sods on the Garda Station.
"Despite the doubts of so
many, now we have a full complement of buildings but also staff to occupy them. It is truly gratifying to see the grandeur of the premises and how they add physically to the town. "I am convinced it will, in time, add to the stature of Buncrana's drawing power for other opportunities. It is important that we continue to talk up those opportunities and the great peninsula and county in which we live."
