NCT centre to open in January 22.12.09

INISHOWEN is to get its own NCT centre with the opening of a new facility in Carndonagh on Tuesday, January 12, it has emerged. The new centre will be located at Liss, Carndonagh and will dramatically cut the travel time for people in the peninsula whose cars are due for the NCT. Work is now ongoing to have the site completed in the second week of the new year.
"This development is more than merited by the geographical considerations particular to Inishowen and County Donegal and by the fact that Inishowen has 25% of the county’s motorists," said Cllr Charlie McConalogue.

"The large backlog that developed over last summer made the situation particularly pressing and this new centre in the peninsula will hopefully prevent long waiting lists in the county from now on."
The county's Deputy Mayor said Carndonagh was a central
location for the peninsula's NCT centre.
"We must however ensure that traffic to and from the centre is managed so as to ensure that cars use the signed routes and prevent unnecessary traffic on minor local roads in the area. "I will work with the NCT centre and the County Council to ensure that signage to and from the centre clearly directs that the appropriate routes are used,” he added.
