Cowen forced to cancel Muff visit  20.05.09

A MUFF sheltered housing committee were disappointed last week when a planned visit by Taoiseach Brian Cowen was cancelled at short notice.
Bad weather forced Mr Cowen to change his plan to visit Warren View Manor Sheltered Housing - his last appointment on a whistlestop visit to Donegal of Friday. Senator Cecilia Keaveney said she too was very disappointed Mr Cowen could not keep his appointment in Muff.
"This visit was organised very recently and I know a huge amount of work went into getting everyone notified and organising refreshments for those who would attend. Unfortunately, due to the weather conditions forecasted for landing back in Dublin the Taoiseach had to alter his plan and return to Dublin via the scheduled flight out of Derry," said Senator Keaveney.
"While all schedules are liable to be put under pressure due to many factors, the very short notice of this change of plan undoubtedly made it tough for those in Muff

to get all those invited informed of the change of plan easily.
"From my own part, I was hugely disappointed not to be able to introduce the Taoiseach personally to all those behind this exceptional project, which is a great example of teamwork of the voluntary sector and the State. Undoubtedly, there will be another day for a celebration as we move towards the official opening. Meantime, I would again express my sorrow for the fact that an excellent visit in many ways to the county could not be fully completed," added Senator Keaveney.
