O'Flaherty's 'Trad for Trocaire' 20.09.10

O'FLAHERTY'S bar in Buncrana has joined the 'Trad for Trocaire' campaign where musicians play tunes for charity.
‘Trad for Trocaire’ kicks off on Thursday, September 23 and runs until Wednesday, September 29. It is a week-long celebration of traditional Irish music, run by Trocaire and Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann in association with musicians, venues and trad music fans. People in Inishowen are being urged to 'raise the roof' by organising or supporting a local traditional music session.
As part of the initiative, O'Flahertys pub had an early ‘Trad for Trocaire’ session last Wednesday.

Trocaire’s regional development officer, Lawrence McBride, said: “‘Trad for Trócaire’ will this week capture the unique spirit of people here at home, our passion for music and our strong history of standing up against injustice and poverty overseas. There’ll be craic and song in schools, churches, pubs and homes throughout the peninsula.”
Money raised through the campaign will support the overseas aid organisation’s worldwide work to help poor and vulnerable communities overcome poverty.
“We hope that Inishowen people will join us this week in the biggest session Ireland has ever seen and help us spread goodwill across the country and the world,” added Mr. McBride.
