Svelte dancers to show
off their moves on Friday week
THE eagerly anticipated Moville GAA Strictly Come
Dancing will take place in Caiseal Mara Hotel over
two nights, Friday and Saturday, February 19 and
February 20.
Recent reports from the practice sessions suggest
that this event will live up to all expectations and
promises to be a fun night not to be missed.
The novelty event was inspired by a similar event
attended by a club member in County Tyrone and such
was its success that a small committee was formed
within the Club to investigate the possibility of
running a similar function. The hardworking
committee of Heather Norris, Brigid Harkin, Seamus
Hegarty and Conor O’Donnell have been working
tirelessly on this project since October. |

After deciding to go
ahead with the event, the next challenge was to get
a group of local renowned ‘movers and shakers’ to
commit themselves to the intense 12-week training
programme and more importantly step on stage in
front of the local experts and celebrity judges on
19 and 20 February. The group secured the services
of professional drama instructor Movania Parkinson
and |

since then the selected
dancers have been put through their paces under her
instruction.
The dancers have shed many pounds and all will be a
slimmed down version come dance night. The dancing
pairs are: Liam Skelly and Siobhan McLaughlin; Pat
McLaughlin and Michelle Cavanagh; Seamus Hegarty and
Caroline McLaughlin; Mickey Barron and Annie
McCartney; Malachy McDermott and Aoife O’Hare; Eddie
Kelly and Sarah Faulkner; Dara Henry and Claire
Doherty; Eamonn McGonagle and Laura Bonner; Owen
Logue and Aideen Fisher, and the club thanks them
for their commitment and effort. |

The night itself will
be action packed with glitz, glamour, show stopping
moves and sequins galore. The show will start with a
Group Dance followed by each couple performing a
Ballroom Dance of their choice, e.g. Jive, Salsa
etc. In the second half of the show the dancers will
really get to showcase their dance floor talents
with some exotic and unusual moves in the freestyle
section.
Popular local businessman Jim Bredin will compere
the event bringing his witty personality to the
occasion. The expert judges will be drawn from the
legal, clerical, sporting, business and dancing
professions and they have already been briefed on
their responsibility. While the judges will give the
first vote, spectators will also have a chance to
vote on the night and no doubt the spectators vote
will be the deciding factor, so vote early and vote
often.
The prize on each night is the “Disco Ball Trophy”
which will be presented to the couple who secure the
most votes on the night. The Club thanks the
dancers, sponsors and any other person or
organisation that has contributed to this
