Kojak 'does the business' 28.09.10

IT'S not everyday a cow gets a whole field to herself. Nor is it everyday a crowd gathers along the hedgerows to observe where said cow chooses to do her business! But that’s exactly what happened at Páirc Cholmcille in Newtown as club members and spectators gathered to view the club’s novel fundraising venture – The Cow Pat Challenge!
Club members had been out and about in recent weeks selling tickets for the fundraiser. They flogged squares on the pitch with €2000 up for grabs for the lucky punter on whose square the cow would chose to do her business. Hence the rather polite name – The Cow Pat Challenge.
There was plenty of laughs as 'Kojak' the cow took to the field to sample the Naomh Colmcille grass and make someone €2000 better off.
Kojak finally did the business at 6:17pm on a spot marked with a flag and grid reference. The lucky winner was Michael Mulrine of Raphoe, ticket number 1003. The winning ticket was sold by senior player Ciaran Devine.
Club PRO, Eugene Rainey says it was a good evening’s craic: “It had everyone talking and laughing that’s for sure! Congratulations to Michael and many thanks to everyone who bought and sold tickets and attended on the day. The club would also like to thank Breda Friel for organising the tickets, Karol Friel for marking out the field, Kieran Friel for bringing
