Broadband for Glengad-Gleneely

GLENGAD, Culdaff and
Gleneely will this week get mobile broadband access
for the first time after the completion of work on
two masts in the area.
The long-awaited internet connection comes after
Three Telecom finished work last week on two
broadband masts - one at Claggan, Culdaff and the
other at Oort, Gleneely.
Local councillor, Charlie McConalogue said the
development was long overdue.
“This is a long awaited development for everyone
living in an area which has had no broadband
availability until now and will make a significant
difference to people meaning they can now avail of
the internet in their daily lives. |
“This has been a
massive issue in the area for a long time now and
with the importance of technology in everyday life,
it was unacceptable that these areas did not have
internet until now. It was the biggest issue in the
area during the local elections last year and I know
people have been keenly waiting for it to arrive.”
Cllr McConalogue said the mast at Claggan, Culdaff
was erected as part of the National Broadband Scheme
roll-out while the company agreed to undertake the
mast at Gleneely on a private enterprise basis.

plugs into the side of standard laptops and
computers. |

Cllr McConalogue added:
“The two masts will also bring limited coverage to
parts of the Carrowmena and Ballyharry areas but
further mast infrastructure is likely to be needed
locally to properly address broadband availability
in this area. I am continuing to work with Three
Telecom in an effort to get them to provide this and
hope that they will follow on from the good work
they have done so far by going the next step by
doing this.” |
