by Eamonn MacDermott, Inishowen Independent

GARDAÍ in Donegal have recovered a series of items stolen in burglaries in Newtowncunningham, Killea and other areas recently.
Announcing the recovery of the items, Supt Vincent O’Brien thanked the public for their co-operation.
Following a number of searches last week officers recovered imitation firearms, gas canisters, pellets, power tools, car stereos, spray paint guns and two flat screen TVs.
It is believed all the goods were stolen in various burglaries.
In one burglary in Newtown, 35 imitation weapons were stolen and some of them are still unaccounted for. Gardaí are still looking for a further seven imitation Tarsus pistols and two imitation SIG-Sauer pistols.
Supt O’Brien said he was ‘very pleased’ with the successes of the last week.
He added: “Our crime unit has been working very hard over the last number of weeks in relation to various burglaries and thefts. I am very pleased with the outcome of the investigation to date.
“I would also like to thank the members of the public who provided us with valuable information and hope people will continue to come forward with information in relation to these and other crimes.”
Meanwhile, two men have appeared in court in Letterkenny charged in connection with the
