Have your say on Carn plan 01.02.10

THE people of Carndonagh have been urged by a local councillor to have their say on the new town plan.
Council planners confirmed at the recent monthly electoral meeting that they had commenced the early preparatory stage of the Carndonagh Town Plan. They are now happy to receive submissions from interested parties ahead of the formal period of consultation.
Councillor Pádraig MacLochlainn who campaigned for a plan for the North Inishowen town since his election to the Council in 2004 called on locals to make their voices heard on what they would like to see in their hometown.
A view of Carndonagh which is to get its own town plan shortly.
"This is an important breakthrough for the people of Carndonagh. It has been a long time since the town has had a plan," said Cllr MacLochlainn.
"Town plans are so important in that they provide an agreed framework for a community to build into the future. Carndonagh has suffered economically over recent times but its strength, as always, is its people and its community spirit. This town plan is a unique opportunity for all to come together and have a say on what needs to be done."
The Sinn Féin councillor said it was important that people from all sectors in Carn got involved.
"It is really important that businesses, community groups, sporting organisations and the people of Carndonagh now contact Gerry Richards of the Central Planning Unit at the Carndonagh Public Service Centre. This is your plan and we need to get it right for you," he added.
