SPRAOI agus Spórt has
announced a community event to mark the official
renaming of Carndonagh Nursery and Garden Centre.
Saothrú Nursery & Garden Centre will host a day of
workshops, cooking demonstrations, and family
activities. A Day at Saothrú takes place on Saturday, 29
August, from 11am to 2pm.
The event will include Spraoi’s latest Farmers Market,
giving local food producers, makers, crafters, and small
businesses can showcase their products. Shopping Spraoi
will also return, offering anyone having a wardrobe
clear-out the chance to take part in a sustainable
fashion market. |

"Saothrú is about growing
and nurturing, and that reflects what we want this space
to be, somewhere people can grow plants, share skills
and support one another." said Saothrú Nursery & Garden
Centre Manager Tommy McGonigle.
"At Saothrú, we believe gardening can bring people
together. Through workshops, seasonal events, shared
learning, and inclusive opportunities, we hope to create
a welcoming space for the whole community".
Donegal Local Development CLG will host three
budget-friendly cooking demonstrations during the day.
The first session at 11am will use ingredients sourced
directly from market traders, complete with a short
introduction from a local producer. At 12pm, a
demonstration on air fryer favourites will highlight
affordable meals for students, older adults, and busy
households. The final session at 1pm focuses on quick,
nutritious recipes and everyday lunchbox ideas for
families. |

Spraoi are inviting local
vendors, food producers, crafters, and fashion sellers
to participate. Stalls for the market and rails for the
clothes fair are available to book online now.
