Inishowen prepares to spring into action 05.09.18

A MATTRESS Amnesty Day will take place in Inishowen on Saturday 15th September from 9am to 12pm at Carndonagh Recycling Centre.
One hundred and ninety mattresses were recently collected for recycling during the Mattress Amnesty Day in Letterkenny last month in what was the first day of this new national initiative in Donegal.
Some of the 190 mattresses collected for recycling in Letterkenny during the Mattress Amnesty Day in August.
Suzanne Bogan, Waste Awareness Officer in Donegal County Council said “We were delighted with the number of household mattresses collected during the Mattress Amnesty Day in Letterkenny”.
“This was the first time that we held an Amnesty Day such as this in Donegal and to see this type of response is very positive. We are now hosting a number of additional days during September 2018 in different areas across the county. This is a great opportunity for households to dispose of old mattresses free of charge in a proper way and we are asking that no more than three mattresses are disposed of per vehicle and that mattresses are dry and clean.”
Suzanne is urging the public to avail of the Mattress Amnesty Day in Carndonagh on Saturday 15th September saying “this initiative is a great way for households to dispose of their old mattresses free of charge in their local recycling centre and we would urge households to use this opportunity".
