Former Taoiseach Enda Kenny for Irish Open Pro Am 21.06.18

HE’S been in one or two political bunkers but former Taoiseach Enda Kenny has now been announced in the line-up of keen golfers who will tee off at the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open pro-am in Ballyliffin next month.
The former Fine Gael leader will line-up on July 4 with some of the country's sports and entertainment stars including former champion jockey AP McCoy, snooker star Dennis Taylor and singer and actor Keith Duffy.
Strictly Come Dancing regular Anton de Beke will swap the ballroom for the fairways of Ballyliffin Golf Club along with former Ireland rugby internationals Keith Wood and Stephen Ferris and GAA heroes Michael Murphy and Kieran Donaghy.
The eagerly-awaited professional-amateur match is the traditional charity opening day of the five-day event. The Dubai Duty Free Irish Open championship will take place at the Glashedy Links, Ballyliffin Golf Club, from Thursday, July 5 to Sunday, July 8, hosted by Rory McIlroy and his Rory Foundation charity.

“Ballyliffin is a great golf course. It’s always nice to be back home and play in front of the home crowd so I’m very much looking forward to playing the course while also having some fun at the Pro Am before the tournament kicks off,” said Rory McIlroy.
Other professional golfers scheduled to compete for the trophy include title holder Jon Rahm, his fellow Spanish countryman Rafael Cabrera Bello and 2016 Ryder Cup teammates, English trio Matthew Fitzpatrick, Chris Wood and Danny Willett.
Meanwhile, Cold Feet star James Nesbitt, former Ireland international goalkeeper Shay Given, pop star Brian McFadden and a number of Derry City footballers will also display their golfing skills on one of the country's best seaside links courses.
The countdown is now well underway to one of the biggest sporting events ever hosted in the North West.
Some 100,000 visitors are expected to descend on the Inishowen peninsula for the star-studded event, with local towns and villages putting the final touches to their shop fronts and flower displays.
County star Nathan Carter has been announced as the headline act for the music and entertainment programme that will run in tandem with the top Irish golf championship.
