Sports training courses for Donegal jobseekers 02.09.15

DONEGAL Sports Partnership has secured funding to run two innovative training programmes for young jobseekers in the county with a keen interest in sport.
The training courses will target 18 to 35 year olds who are currently unemployed but who would like a future career in sport.
Each of the training programmes will be of 14 weeks duration - two days per week - and will combine both theory and practical elements.
The programmes will be sport specific with one soccer-based in conjunction with the Finn Harps Schools initiative and the other focusing on outdoor pursuits in partnership with Gartan Outdoor Education Centre.
Other generic modules on both courses will include training and coaching, job readiness skills and personal development.
Participants will also have the opportunity of getting plenty of hands-on practical experience through a job placement module.
The courses are part of a national initiative spearheaded by the Irish Sports Council.
"A working group has been established to oversee implementation of the initiative and includes representatives from key partner organisations including; Donegal ETB, Gartan Outdoor Education Centre, Donegal Sports Partnership and Finn Harps Schools Programme," said a spokesperson.
"Meetings have also taken place with the Department of Social Protection with whom we will work closely and who have pledged full support of the initiative."
Places on the programme are limited and applications will close on September 17. If you or someone you know may be interested or you require further information please contact Donegal Sports Partnership on 074 (91) 16078 or 16079 or via email on info@activedonegal.com . For more info click here .
