Free collection of waste electrical goods 05.08.15

A free collection depot for waste electrical and electronic items will open for one day in Buncrana later this month.
The announcement comes as it's revealed that almost 733 tonnes of waste electrical items such as TVs, fridges and hairdryers were recycled in Donegal last year.
Figures from Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Ireland (WEEE Ireland) also show that more than 70 electrical items per Donegal household were collected for recycling since 2005 while an average of almost 5kg of electrical waste was recycled per person last year, one kilo higher than the EU average.
WEEE Ireland revealed that most Donegal people are now aware that waste electricals can be recycled for free. However, 1 in 4 people are still hoarding or putting electrical waste in the rubbish bin at home.
The local collection will take place between 10am-4pm on Saturday, August 15 at Nailor’s Row car park, Buncrana - opposite the town's Credit Union.
A simultaneous collection will take place the same day at Lifford-Clonleigh Resource Centre, Croaghan Heights with other collection days scheduled for towns such as Carrigart and Bundoran.
