President Higgins' packed Inishowen diary 08.09.14

PRESIDENT of Ireland Michael D Higgins will have a packed diary when he visits Inishowen this weekend for a number of engagements with various organisations around the peninsula.
The following is the full list of engagements:
Friday, September 12
12.15pm - Carndonagh: President will visit Colgan Hall on the occasion of their 100th anniversary celebrations.
3pm - Clonmany: President will visit the restored 16th Century O’Doherty Castle
7.30pm - Buncrana: President will present the 2014 Tip O’Neill Diaspora Award at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel.
Saturday, September 13
11am - Buncrana: President will visit ‘The Exchange’ social and resource centre at Castle Avenue.

Meanwhile, Donegal County Council has announced details of President Higgins' presentation of the annual Tip O'Neill Diaspora Award.
The award will be presented this year to Massachusetts State President, Senator Therese Murray. The ceremony at the Inishowen Gateway Hotel will be attended by guests from Ireland as well as friends and associates of President Murray and members of the O’Neill family from the US. The awarded recognises the recipient's achievements and commitment to Ireland and to Irish people abroad.
Rosemary O’Neill, daughter of the late Tip O’Neill said: “It is a great honour to come back to Ireland to meet the President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, and participate in the Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Award and in the diaspora events that compliment the weekend’s festivities."
Other free and public Tip O'Neill events taking place over the weekend include the official opening of Sliabh Sneacht Centre, Drumfries on September 12 at 4pm.
The Tip O’Neill Inishowen Schools Essay/Art Competition will be presented on September 13 at 10am at the Sliabh Sneacht Centre, Drumfries.
The annual Tip O’Neill Diaspora Lecture will be delivered by Professor Ronan Fanning on September 13 at 11am in the Sliabh Sneacht Centre, Drumfries.
