Martin O’Neill to honour young volunteers 20.03.14

REPUBLIC of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill says young people must be inspired to become the leaders of tomorrow.
O'Neill will be guest of honour at a Donegal awards ceremony next week recognising young people who volunteer in their communities throughout the island of Ireland.
The Ireland soccer boss, who is a big advocate of youth participation in sport and the community, will present the trophies at the eighth Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards.

He said the event provided valuable recognition for dedicated young people.
“We need to celebrate our young people today to inspire them into being leaders of tomorrow,” said O’Neill.
“We salute the 20 finalists for this programme and the other young people who are helping those in need," he added.
The awards are held in partnership with the National Association of Principals and Deputy Principals and the General Teaching Council for Northern Ireland.
The selection committee that will choose the two All-Ireland Youth Volunteers of the Year will include John Hume as chair; Andrea McBride, Pramerica; Ivan Arbuthnot, GTCNI; Clive Byrne, Director, NAPD; Wendy Osbourne, CEO Volunteer Now and Yvonne McKenna, CEO Volunteer Ireland.
The event will see the two overall All Ireland Youth Volunteers of the Year being named.
The gala ceremony takes place at Lough Eske Castle, Co Donegal, on Wednesday, March 26.
