Donal McKeown is new Bishop of Derry 25.02.14

THE new Bishop of Derry is Donal McKeown, it's been confirmed this morning.
The Antrim native (63) has been appointed to the post which has remained unfilled for almost two-and-half years since the retirement on health grounds of Bishop Seamus Hegarty.
At a press conference this morning, Bishop McKeown revealed he was appointed after an invitation to Dublin to meet the Apostolic Nuncio Archbishop Charles Brown just six days ago. Bishop McKeown was born in Belfast and is a former president of St Malachy's College, Belfast. He is multi-lingual and is fluent in German and Italian with a working knowledge of French and Polish. He is also a regular contributor to radio and television both north and south.
