Simon seeks hardy street sleepers 02.09.13

THE SIMON Community in Donegal is hoping to recruit 25 brave volunteers to participate in their fifth annual Sponsored Street Sleep in Letterkenny, on Friday, October 4, 2013.
Last year's event was a big success with volunteers braving the elements to spend the night with just a sleeping bag and cardboard mattress for comfort.
The volunteers raised much needed sponsorship while the local community and businesses also united behind the event to help make it a success.

All money raised will stay Donegal and go directly towards providing housing support, advice and advocacy to individuals and families throughout the county. North West Simon Community is a not-for-profit organisation and works with those in danger of homelessness across the Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo. The charity street sleepers have to be 18 or over and will set up camp from 10pm.
"Participants will be asked to raise funds in the lead up to the event - we're hoping each participant could reach a minimum of €250,” said Collette Ferguson.
Sponsorship cards will be provided and money can be raised in numerous ways including cake sale, bric a brac sale, coffee morning, a work whip around or by asking for sponsorship.
More information is available from Collette Ferguson on 91 21613 or 087 0552478 or email her at donegalfundraising@northwestsimon.ie .
