Roy scores for guide dogs 29.04.13

ROY Keane knows that every team needs its supporters and this year he is asking the public in Co Donegal to score for Irish Guide Dogs for the Blind. The Shades fundraising drive runs from today, April 29 until May 4.
This is Roy’s eleventh year supporting the national campaign which raises funds to provide guide dogs for vision impaired persons and assistance dogs for families of children with autism.
With all services provided free of charge Irish Guide Dogs raises over 80% of its annual income through fundraising and the Shades campaign is key activity in its annual calendar. This year the organisation needs to raise over €4 million if it is to meet its training targets and reduce waiting times which are up to 3 years for key services.

Inishowen has several guide and assistance dogs including Gael who helps Cormac Kerrigan in Iskaheen and Miles who belongs to Clonmany man Kevin Kelly.
Local Donegal volunteers will be selling doggie-themed Shades pins and other items in selected stores and there will also be street collections during May.
There is still time for clubs and companies to get behind Shades with a workplace event and the organisation is always looking for volunteers to join their nationwide team.
