Daniel O’Donnell to headline local
festival

IN a major coup, Clonmany Music Festival has secured
Daniel O’Donnell as the headline act for its opening
night on August 5.
The festival, which will run from Sunday, August 5
until August 12 has, according to one of the
organisers, Hugo Boyce, been going from strength to
strength.
He said: “This is a great coup for the Clonmany
Festival to have Daniel O’Donnell on the opening
night. |
“This will be the first
time that Daniel has played with his band at an
outdoor event and we are all looking forward to a
great night.
“The Clonmany Festival has been getting bigger and
bigger each year and with Daniel O’Donnell on the
opening night they will be coming from everywhere.
“Full credit to our chairman George Harrigan who
managed to cajole and persuade Daniel to come.”
But Daniel O’Donnell is not the only big name to
come for the festival as the full week has headline
acts.

“Then in another coup
for us as they are very hard to get, we have the
High Kings playing on the Friday night, August 10.
“As well as that we have the Wolfe Tones on the
11th, Mike Denver on the 9th and the Nathan Carter
Band on the 6th.
“There is definitely something for everyone at this
year’s festival and we expect it to really put
Clonmany on the map.”
Mr Boyce said the only problem they had was finding
accommodation for the visitors that will be flocking
to the Inishowen town for the festival.
He said: “We expect visitors from all over Ireland,
England and Scotland and our main concern is where
we can put them all.
“I expect we shall just have to do our best to
ensure everyone has a place to stay.”
Mr Boyce added: “This year’s festival will be the
45th one and we are a bit later this year because we
always hold it in conjunction with the Bank Holiday.
“But securing Daniel O’Donnell as the headline act
is great for the festival and will ensure we get off
to a great start.” |
