Film to 'Shine' in Buncrana 22.03.11

THE Donegal Film Office has urged people to go along and see 'A Shine of Rainbows' at Buncrana Cinema all this week. The film, starring Aidan Quinn and Connie Nielsen, was shot on location around Inishowen three years ago.
It will be screened at Buncrana Cinema from Tuesday to Thursday this week starting at 8.15pm. "Go along and see Inishowen on the big screen and see if you can spot your neighbours," quipped a Donegal Film Office spokesperson.
The heart-warming film tells the story of Tomas, a shy eight year old orphan, who is adopted by Maire O’Donnell, "a beautiful woman bursting with life".
She brings him home to Corrie Island, off the coast of Ireland where he meets Alec, her reticent husband who cannot hide his disappointment at Tomas’ timidity and halting speech. Undiscouraged, Maire shares with Tomas the secret of the seals and other wonders and teaches him that you can find magic anywhere - if you really look.
In this rugged and enchanting world, Tomas thrives and Alec begins to see in Tomas what Maire always has. But when tragedy strikes, Tomas is faced with his greatest challenge for he’ll lose everything unless he can find - and share - the magic that’s inside him. Risking all, the young boy embarks on a perilous journey where he will need to call on all of Maire’s gifts to triumph and come home.
"A Shine Of Rainbows is a story about the power of love, about finding acceptance, discovering ourselves, and realising that rainbows are all around us - and within us too."
