Carn fire death 'not suspicious' 05.01.11

GARDAI are not treating as suspicious the tragic death of a woman in a fire in Carndonagh on New Year's Eve.
The badly charred remains of Elizabeth McLaughlin (Loftus) were discovered in the living room of her home at Clós Phádraig, off the Malin Road, last Friday around 11am. The blaze had done little damage to the surrounding furniture.
A garda technical examination was undertaken at the scene of the accident and a post mortem was carried out by the state pathologist at Letterkenny General Hospital. "Gardai at this point are not viewing the death of Ms McLaughlin as suspicious," a spokesperson said yesterday. The victim, a separated mother-of-five, lived alone in the semi-detached house in the quiet cul-de-sac. For funeral arrangements click here .
