Mary pedals cycling benefits

A BUNCRANA group has
received funding to draw up a strategy document on
walking and cycling trails for the town.
Sinn Féin Cllr Mary Kelly who set up the Buncrana
Cycling and Walking Group, welcomed the funding from
Inishowen Development Partnership. |
The funded study, she
says, "will provide direction to the group in the
areas of cycling and walking in Buncrana and its
environment".
"This document will be a requirement to apply for
future funding to programmes such as the Smarter
Travel Programme.
"Earlier this year Buncrana Town Council agreed to
part fund this project and we would like to thank
them both for their support," said Cllr Kelly, who
also runs Pedal Right.
Buncrana Cycling and Walking Group was set up over a
year ago to promote and plan walking and cycling in
the area. |

"Cycling and walking
are of great importance not only for local residents
but for tourism. Other areas have introduced cycling
and walking projects and the success of these are to
be seen around Ireland," she added. |
