Urris bids for top GAA facilities 30.10.07

URRIS GAA Club launched its biggest ever development draw at the weekend in a bid to bring the best playing facilities to the Clonmany area.
The club has embarked on one of the most extensive sports developments ever undertaken in the parish or indeed Inishowen. "It will involve the construction of two full-size football fields, one floodlit, training grounds, a state of the art clubhouse, parking and many more facilities," explained a spokesperson.
"When finished, the new development will ensure that the people of Clonmany, both young and old, have one of the finest sports amenities available in Inishowen for many years to come."
Urris GAA Club opened its pitch in Straid in 1989, close to the village of Clonmany. In the course of the last 19 years, thousands of players both young and old, male and female have enjoyed the facilities. "However, times move on and the club feels that the time has come to upgrade its grounds substantially," added the spokesperson.
Development of these facilities depends on how quickly the club can raise the money required. It is appealing to anyone in the parish who would like to make a donation towards the project, or who feels that they are in a position to advance the club a loan, to make themselves known to any member of the committee. All approaches will be dealt with in the strictest confidence.
The club is also calling on the people of Clonmany and the wider Inishowen area to join them in helping to making this project a huge success and one that the whole parish and peninsula can be proud of for generations to come.
The club thanked everyone who turned out for the launch of the draw at the Ballyliffin Hotel on Sunday and paid a special word of thanks to the sponsors. The draw takes place on September 5, 2008. Tickets cost €100 and will be available from all Urris club members over the coming months.
Prizes include a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Yaris, €3,000 in cash, a year’s family membership of the Ballyliffin Lodge and Spa Leisure Centre along with other great prizes.
