Grant for Inishowen Summer Gathering 12.12.07

THE Inishowen Summer Gathering group has received a grant of more than €1,000 in recognition of its drive to protect the local environment.
The gathering are among just eight groups in Donegal to share funding of €10,000 from this year's Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund.
Deputy Niall Blaney welcomed the funding saying it recognised groups who raise environmental awareness and promote action.
“The projects will be co-funded by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and Donegal County Council," he said.
"They include workshops and fieldtrips for schools-based waste and biodiversity, an information guide with localised information of services and anti litter schools projects.
“All of the projects promote education, raise awareness and encourage community spirit.” The Inishowen Summer Gathering received a total of €1,051 for its annual workshops

Other groups to benefit are Raphoe Tidy Towns, €1,600; Dunfanaghy Resource Centre, €550; VOICE, €700 for its Guide to Recycling; the Donegal Natural Parenting Group, €1,035 for its Real Nappy Project;Supported Community Sheltered Work Programme, €1,250; Down To Earth, €3,000 and VOICE, €550 for its ‘Waterwise' leaflets and labels for house, on water and detergents.
