Plane sinks at Derry Airport 10.08.07

AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a plane sank into tarmac while waiting on a runway at City of Derry Airport.
Passengers on board the flight from Salou were driven away from the aircraft and the jet was eventually able to work itself free.
The incident on Wednesday is another embarrassment for the airport which was temporarily closed in recent months by the Civil Aviation Authority.
City of Derry Airport.
An airport spokesperson said: "While the aircraft was stationary, it settled into the tarmac for a time and was subsequently manoeuvred to the main area of the airport to allow passengers to board the outbound flight to Salou/Reus."
The inbound service, carrying 180 passengers, had been sitting on a remote runway for thirty minutes after landing because of other traffic at the airport. Inspectors from the CAA have requested a full briefing on the incident.
