Lisfannon to Cockhill road in pipeline 22.10.07

Buncrana Town Council has approved a route for the town's outer relief road that will eventually allow motorists drive directly from Lisfannon to Cockhill.
The long-awaited decision fits in to the Buncrana Town Plan in that it will inform future development in the town particularly in relation to the east and environs.

congestion in the centre of the growing seaside town.
Mr. Gillespie said as each section of road is needed due to residential or other new developments, it will be built by the developers in line with their planning guidelines.
"The prime objective will be to protect a route for the future rather than have the situation that we've had in the past where development happens and then when we need a new road we suddenly find that everywhere is blocked," he said.
"It's all part of the overall development of Buncrana. It's an outer relief road that will act as relief and as time goes on and as different pieces of land along the route become developed, the developers will construct the different pieces."
