Six board members sought in Inishowen 09.10.07

ELECTIONS will take place next month to find six people to sit on the board of a new funding and development company in Inishowen.
The company has been formed from the merger of two existing bodies: the Inishowen Partnership Company (IPC) and Inishowen Rural Development Limited (IRDL).
The new company will continue to deliver existing services and programmes covering all aspects of social, economic and cultural development in the peninsula.
It will also be in a better position to apply for additional funding for the region. The two companies are currently forming a joint board of management and are seeking, through community elections, to appoint six community representatives.
They will be drawn from the local community or voluntary sector who are being urged to put forward suitable candidates who understand what their community or group needs.
“It is crucial for continued progress that community interests are effectively represented on the new board. The dynamic contributions from the diverse community sector in Inishowen are fundamental in achieving social, economic and cultural development within the peninsula” said IPC manager, Shauna McClenaghan.
IRDL manager, Andrew Ward added: “We are looking for people who can represent not only the issues in their respective local communities but who are also willing and have the capacity to work in close collaboration with others to achieve common aims and objectives which will benefit the Inishowen Peninsula as a whole."
To ensure that all areas are properly represented, Inishowen has been divided into three areas - North, South and East.
Andrew Ward, IRDL manager.
Each area will elect two representatives with each registered group being entitled to one vote. Nominations open on Tuesday, October 9th and close at 1pm on Friday, October 26th. To ensure that your organisation is on the register and gets the opportunity to nominate a representative, please contact Kay at 074 9362218. Public meetings will be held in the following three areas to explain the process further. The elections will be conducted with the assistance of Donegal County Council on Thursday, November 8 in the Carndonagh Public Service Centre at 8pm.
