Loreto House says it with flowers 30.04.07

Loreto House in Linsfort was awash with colour at the weekend thanks to the eagerly-awaited International Flower Festival.
Festival organiser Michael Doherty and floral designer Jayne Marshe. Helped along with beautiful sunshine, each room in the spiritural seaside retreat was bedecked from floor to ceiling with blooms of every shape, size and hue. Displays ranged from the abstract to the conventional and contemporary.
The event, organised by Buncrana floral designer, Michael Doherty, was held in
memory of Sr. Anne McDaid, the late director of Loreto House, who passed away last year. All proceeds from the event will go towards the upkeep of the house.
"Sr. Anne loved flowers and colour and she would have been delighted to see the house like this," said Michael.
And even Sr. Anne's beloved dog, Jack, seemed to enjoy the atmosphere as he strolled the grounds surveying all around him.
Helped by a number of local volunteers, the event was a huge success with displays from renowned designers such as Kasuhide Egawa from Japan. Among the other exhibitors, each of whom were given

a room to decorate, were Christine Skipper, London and Karen Sansom, Essex.
Meanwhile, visitors to the floral exhibition enjoyed the idyllic fete-like flavour of the event including homemade cakes, scones and tea in a specially-erected marquee on the lawn. See more Photo Gallery
