'Dangerous' fluoride levels in Donegal tap water 18.10.07

DONEGAL drinking water contains dangerously high levels of fluoride, according to a new survey.
Levels of fluoride too high in Donegal drinking water. The survey shows that more than three-quarters of samples taken from people in the county showed levels of fluoride that were too high.
Kildare GP Dr Andrew Rynne undertook the research which was published this week in the 'Donegal People's Press'.
He said the problem arose in Donegal because of the naturally-occurring fluoride in the water combined with additional flouride added by the authorities.
"There is a background of natural fluoride occurring in the water and, in addition, the State is then adding more into it," said Dr. Rynne.
"This has serious implications for children particularly. Babies who are drinking reconstituted formula are getting massive doses of fluoride. We don't really know what the consequences of this are, but it can't be good."
