Moville's fireworks problem explodes 23.10.07

MOVILLE'S nightly problem with fireworks exploded in the media yesterday after the local parish priest was forced to highlight an attack on an elderly couple leaving Mass.
The pensioners were targeted recently with bangers as they left St. Pius X Church.
It was the culmination of a problem that has besieged the seaside town for the past three to four weeks.
Each night, particularly at weekends, the fireworks are being let off around the Shore Green with

some straying on to the main road as people walk by.
The problem is worst on the section of Green opposite St. Pius X Church and the new elderly sheltered accommodation located within the former convent building.
Parish priest Fr. Paddy O’Kane urged parents to discourage their children from using fireworks and appealed for the problem to stop.
Gardai have consistently warned that fireworks are illegal in the Republic and anyone caught using them around Inishowen will be prosecuted.
