Donegal enters sporting history books 23.04.07

Donegal lifted their first ever National Football League title at Croke Park yesterday in a nail-biting three-point win over Mayo.
Nearly 30,000 spectators watched as the Ulster and Connacht sides battled it out in a tit-for-tat tussle that left most nerves frayed.
Donegal manager Brian McIver's line-up included Brendan Devenney and Paddy McConigley after both passed late fitness tests. Donegal's Man-of-the-match Brian Roper settled quickly scoring two early points to help Donegal into a four point lead.
But Mayo's challenge continued with two quick scores bringing the lead down to only two points at half-time. Mayo came out strongly after the break and gradually fought back to level the score. With the intensity of the game, it was to Donegal's
credit that they prevailed during the seemingly endless eight minutes added on for injuries.
The final score was 0-13 to 0-10.
